Well hello there, Welcome...you’ve found yourself here and I am so glad. Writings here intend to be about ALL THINGS HOME. Design tips for your homes interior and exterior, organization tips, where to even start with your renovations and really just like I titled it; “All things Home”. I hope to inspire and ignite in us a desire and creativity that intentionally builds our HOMES.

The definition of a HOUSE is “a building for human habitation.” That seems so vague and impersonal compared to what our homes actually encapsulate right? Trust me...we are deeply “habitating” our house on every level over here but yet our home experiences so much more than us just existing in it.

I like the word HOME better. I think it is a softer word, one that is more welcoming and better suits what I think we all aspire for our houses to be. Home here means safe, it means transparency, authenticity, laughter, unconditional love, welcoming, relief, ability to really inhale deeply and exhale releasingly. Our homes see the best of those precious moments, us working things out in their rawest forms, our creativity, it’s a canvas to showcase who we are and the things that we love, it sees growth and development in us. We do a whole lot of everything in our homes. Our homes envelope not just the highs but also the lows that we experience in life. Our homes see our pain, tears that fall, the grief we feel, the anger that comes, the stresses, anxieties, panicked moments, sleepless nights and all our imperfections. Our homes see us for who we truly are at each moment of each day.

I want our house to be more than a place that we just simply inhabit and exist in. I want walls to be able to speak a story, our story. I want to build a home, a home whose legacy travels distantly into our future generations and can’t be left out of many of our tales.

Our home will never perfect but that’s what makes it perfect and just right.

For many, sadly, the home really is just a house, a building for human habitation and it certainly doesn’t live up to the descriptive words that I have used in describing my home. For that my heart breaks. The world outside my home can be scary at times, difficult to navigate, a place of vulnerability and coming home is safe to me. Unfortunately this isn’t everyone’s reality, home isn’t safe, in fact some avoid even going home. Their home feels scarier than the outside world. Maybe your home is safe for someone, maybe it’s the place they go and feel like they can breathe again. What a blessing your are then. Don’t think that you’re just building your home for you and the ones you live with, you’re actually building it for everyone who crosses the threshold of your front door.

So this is ALL THINGS HOME. I love all things decor, even the design palettes that I am not such a huge fan of, they are art to me. I love that you can take this structure called a house and design it, construct it, renovate and accessorize it all to fit your specific needs for functionality and yet describe you all at the same time, creatively designing a home out of it. Each of our homes all look different for a reason, cause we are all different and your home gets to be yours, your pickings. No one else gets to decide that for you unless you give them the permission to do so and even then it is with your discretion that they design, create and shape a plan for your home.

So go ahead! Get creative...don’t be afraid to express yourself in your own home. And while your getting creative I encourage you to invite others into your home space and share with them what they may be needing right now.
